The young stallion Shamu immediately captivates with his striking and unusual appearance. He has large, black expressive eyes and a darker face mask compared to his body. His legs are almost orange-colored with four white stockings, and his long blonde mane and tail have a silvery-orange sheen. Such a rare coloration is seldom seen — compared to him, even a palomino appears almost ordinary. Remarkably, Shamu can pass on three distinct color genes simultaneously, each with a 50% chance of inheritance.

He successfully completed his 50-day performance test with regular warmbloods, which can be challenging for outcross horses like him. Additionally, Shamu passed the special breeds performance test in Münster with good results, with his walk and canter rated particularly highly.

This young stallion is extremely brave and curious, and is expected to be well-suited for eventing. At the jump, he shows eagerness and good overview. Overall, he appears to possess a higher level of intelligence than typical warmbloods, learning and understanding much faster. He also carries a high proportion of noble blood.

Shamu's half-brother on the dam's side, the impressive 175 cm tall Cayanosch, was sold to Canada due to his exceptional jumping talent. Many other maternal half-siblings have also demonstrated great jumping ability and have been successful in show jumping at the highest levels. Among them are several licensed stallions. Their grandfather Sir Chamberlain and great-grandfather Sir Shostakovich xx were both successful eventers and enjoyed widespread recognition.

On his father's side, Shamu's grandfather is the Anglo-Arabian Leonardo da Vinci, who was champion stallion at the ZSAA licensing and successfully completed his HLP in eventing competitions. He sired numerous premium foals, including the licensed stallion Priamos, as well as other successful sport horse offspring. One of his Thoroughbred ancestors, the stallion Wladislaw xx, achieved a GAG (Gallop Ability Grade) of 80 kg in racing.

What does it mean if a stallion heterozygously passes on the three color genes Cream, Dun, and Roan, each with a 50% chance?

A stallion like Shamu, who carries three special coat color genes — Cream, Dun, and Roan — each heterozygously, passes each of these genes to his offspring with a 50% chance.

  • The Cream gene dilutes the red pigment in the coat, lightening it to shades like cream or gold without affecting the black points.

  • The Dun gene lightens the body color but leaves the mane, tail, legs, and primitive markings (such as the dorsal stripe and leg barrings) in the undiluted base color. It also produces characteristic primitive markings.

  • The Roan gene causes an intermixture of white hairs with the base color, giving a frosted or speckled appearance that doesn't affect the head, legs, mane, or tail.

This unique combination contributes to Shamu’s distinctive appearance — a creamy body with a darker face mask, white markings on the legs, and a silvery mane and tail. His offspring may inherit different combinations of these coat color traits depending on the genes they receive from him.

Shamu is the ideal stallion for breeders looking to add a truly unique blend of color and character to their program. His striking appearance immediately captures attention, while his intelligence and calm temperament make him a joy to work with. Choosing Shamu means investing in a stallion who can pass on not just stunning looks but also exceptional qualities that set his offspring apart in any ring or discipline. He offers breeders the chance to produce horses with individuality, talent, and a remarkable presence—traits that make a lasting impression and bring success.

Let's learn something about horse colours:
COAT COLOR DUN (color code: D)

CHARACTERISTICS:

  • DUN is a dilution gene which means that the base color of the horse will be lightened up
  • DUN is a dominant gene. All horses that carry at least one copy will show the Dun Factor. It can not be carried hidden in a horse.

Primitive Markings: All horses that carry a DUN gene will have the following traits, also called the Dun Factor:

  • leg barring
  • cobwebbing
  • shoulder stripe
  • neck shadowing
  • dorsal stripe that goes into the tail
  • mane / tail frosting
  • dark ear tipping/ ear edging
  • mottling above the zebra legs

DUN, nd1, nd2

There are two known variants of the TBX3 gene that result in non-dun phenotypes. Non-dun 1 (nd1/nd1 or nd1/nd2) horses lack the distinct dilution seen in dun horses, but may still display some primitive markings. It is important to note, that nd1 ist not a real Dun, is not a special color and there also is no guarantee that a horse with nd1 will show any primitive markings, which then are called pseudo-primitive markings. Non-dun 2 (nd2/nd2) horses lack both the distinct dilution seen in dun horses as well as the primitive markings.

DUN-COLORS

DUN + basic coat colors

DUN + BROWN = bay dun
DUN + RED = red dun
DUN + BLACK = grullo/grulla

CREME + DUN + basic coat colors

CREME + DUN + BROWN = DUNSKIN
CREME + DUN + RED = PALOMINO DUN
CREME + DUN + BLACK = SMOKY GRULLO/GRULLA

Inefavel is a multiple approved Lusitano breeding stallion in the rare color Smoky Grullo, homozygous dun that combines color with quality.

He is approved for APSL (Lusitano studbook), ZfdP (for studbook Lusitano) and accepted for KWPN (studbook 2 for all foals). Other studbooks on request. His owner is working on sport results to get him into other warmblood studbooks - so keep updated on the future of this stallion.

Standing 1.64m with perfect X-Rays (2022+2023), free of WFFS, PSSM1&2 and ECVM. His color code is DD, nCr, EE, aa, gg. He will always make DUN foals (homozygous) with a 50% chance of CREME (heterozygous).

Not only his color code is special, the most impressive on him is his ability to perform in each discipline. He is competing at Prix St. George Level Dressage against Warmbloods (does all Grand Prix exercise at home already), does cross country, showjumping and working equitation with all the passion a horse can give. Performing with the Garrocha or giving doublelonge-lessons is as easy with him as going bareback for a long hack in the forest.
He is easy to sit and collect and has the most spectacular piaffe & canter as well as an outstanding walk for an Iberian breed. His character is super smart. His trainer says about him: „If you train a new trick, he understands immediately. He wants to please his rider so much, sometimes he is like Amazon: ‚If you like that, you might also like this and this and this…‘ and then he offers you all he can and you can just sit and enjoy.“ He loves his people and is very brave.

Inefavel has proven his quality in dozens of foals worldwide from frozen semen, all of them tall with strong bones and a very friendly and smart character & of course dun-colored. Especially his crossbreeds proof that the Lusitano is a breed, that fits to most mares and brings out the best of both parents.

Snowys Cristobal xx is a remarkable cremello English Thoroughbred stallion, born in 2017 and standing at 1.70 meters tall. He was approved in 2020 at the ZSAA Körung in Alsfeld as HB I, where he captivated the Körkommission with his outstanding trot mechanics and free jumping ability, praised for both style and athleticism. His flawless temperament and disposition have been consistently noted, and he successfully passed the rigorous 50-day performance test in Stadl-Paura, Austria, in 2021 with excellent marks.

In the competition arena, Snowys Cristobal xx has demonstrated impressive talent, achieving placements in Class A Young Horse Show Jumping and victories in Class A jumping competitions. This stallion combines the refined nobility and athletic willingness typical of the English Thoroughbred with the resilience and versatility desirable for modern sport horses.

Genetically, Snowys Cristobal xx is homozygous for the cream dilution gene, guaranteeing that all offspring from standard-colored mares will exhibit diluted coat colors such as palomino, buckskin, or smoky black, depending on the mare’s genetic background. Use with mares already carrying the cream gene is available selectively after consultation.

His pedigree is distinguished, descending from top bloodlines including Allthegoldnftknox xx, Red White N Gold xx, and Billionaire xx, with a dam line that includes influential mares like Snowflake Swirl xx and Exclusive Era xx. He is certified free of WFFS, SCID, and CA, assuring excellent genetic health status. Additionally, he received special approval for Trakehner breeding following a Körung by the Trakehner Verband in 2025.

Snowys Cristobal xx was bred by Angela Westphal in Bismark, Germany, who is responsible for his breeding and promotion.

This stallion represents a unique blend of excellence in performance, color genetics, and temperament—making him a prime choice for breeders aiming to enhance their riding horse programs with elegance, versatility, and genetic distinction.

What is special about a Cremello Thoroughbred and which mares is he suitable for?

A Cremello Thoroughbred stallion brings a unique and valuable genetic contribution to breeding programs because he carries the double cream gene. This means all his foals will inherit a dilute coat color, resulting in special, eye-catching colors like palomino, buckskin, or smoky black depending on the mare’s genetics. This double cream gene is very rare among Thoroughbreds, making cremello stallions exceptional and sought-after.

Importantly, breeding with a Thoroughbred stallion like this one is suitable for all mare breeds. Thoroughbreds are known for their ability to refine and improve sport horse qualities across various breeds, adding athleticism, endurance, and elegance. Thus, this cremello Thoroughbred can be used to enhance virtually any type of riding horse population while also guaranteeing unique color genetics with Snowys Cristobal.

All mares can benefit from this stallion, no matter their breed or color genetics, making him a versatile and highly valuable option for breeders aiming to achieve both performance improvements and striking coat colors in their offspring.

In summary, the rarity of cremello Thoroughbreds combined with their ability to reliably pass on the cream dilution gene and to improve many horse breeds makes such stallions outstanding assets in modern sport horse breeding.

The young Cremello stallion Saladin impresses with his naturally luxurious elasticity in all basic gaits, supported by a strong, secure back that allows him to use his entire body fluidly and powerfully.

Easy to ride and willing under saddle, Saladin’s honest and straightforward character makes him a reliable partner who brings joy to every day’s work. At the jump, he shows calmness and eagerness, clearly inheriting the exceptional jumping ability of his grandsire, Alois.

Being homozygous for the cream gene, Saladin guarantees color consistency. For example, when bred to a chestnut mare, he will always sire a palomino foal. In combination with light-colored mares, his offspring may also be doubly diluted.

What truly sets Saladin apart is his exceptionally good-natured temperament. Always friendly, open, and curious, he offers a refreshing ease in every interaction. Nervousness or panic are simply unknown to him, making Saladin a remarkable stallion both in talent and character.

Saladin’s sire is the premium stallion Beryllium MD, bred by Dr. Marliese Dobberthien, who is also known for producing notable stallions such as Quasi Gold MD and Qaside MD. Saladin is the only double diluted (double lightened) son of Beryllium MD currently available to breeders. Beryllium MD was admired for his very honest and expressive movement through the body, combined with a large and powerful physique—traits that remain rare among diluted horses. His grandsire, the highly successful stallion Friedensfürst, competed at the highest level under rider Lisa Wilcox.

Saladin's dam is a daughter of the internationally highly decorated jumping stallion Alois - the mare Sava. Sava is also the mother of Scheherazade. She was awarded the state premium in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania and achieved the highest movement marks.

This is what his new owner is writing of Saladin:

"He is an absolute dream horse in every situation! Always impeccably well-behaved, cuddly, friendly, absolutely social with people, dogs and other horses.

Always 100% motivated and focused at work, whether on the lunge or under the rider. Can be ridden to any place or meadow and even in strange places he immediately goes forward and down in all gaits in a relaxed manner, grumbles and snorts contentedly, is always good at the aids and is really extremely comfortable to sit on and doesn't let himself be pushed through tractors or paddling pools , disturb cows or excavators.

You can take him for a walk anywhere and if he really finds something scary, he just stops for a moment, snorts and looks - and then he continues as if nothing had ever happened.

About Saladin: he's just great! He's gained a bit of temper, but that suits him. He likes to present himself, whinnies loudly when he gains momentum at the trot and very rarely does his good mood go to his head, but he never humps! Then it just becomes fast. Or sees ghosts, puts on a collar and snorts loudly - but then nothing else happens. Unfortunately, in the current situation I still haven't had anyone to film or take photos of us riding, so I urgently need to do that.

He's great with the aids and I've rarely seen such a motivated and eager-to-work horse! He loves to jump (freely), but is generally always happy about "work" and cuddles. And even then it runs around in the meadow for hours. Even after my pregnancy, when I was naturally completely unbalanced, I was able to get back in the saddle without any problems."

What is the cream gene in horses and what effect does it have?

The cream gene in horses is a dilution gene that lightens the coat, mane, and tail by reducing the amount of pigment produced in the hair and skin cells. It is inherited in an incomplete dominant manner, meaning horses with one copy of the gene show a lighter coat color than those without it, while horses with two copies have an even more pronounced dilution.

Specifically, a horse with one copy of the cream gene (heterozygous) will have a diluted coat color such as palomino from chestnut, buckskin from bay, or smoky black from black. Horses with two copies of the cream gene (homozygous) display much lighter coat colors like cremello, perlino, or smoky cream and usually have blue eyes.

The gene does not affect the white spotting patterns but specifically reduces red and black pigments, creating the characteristic cream-colored coat variations often sought after in many breeds. Genetic testing can determine the presence of the cream gene to confirm coat color inheritance.

In summary, the cream gene causes a progressive dilution of the horse's base coat color, leading to the distinctive light cream and golden hues seen in breeds that carry this gene.

Pleasant stallion of very good type, beautiful head and well-formed neck. Long but poorly marked mane, well developed and muscled back and good lines. Good foundation, dry limbs. Tactful at the trot with a lot of shoulder freedom, expansive movements with good activity in the hindquarters.

Sir Cisco's brothers Wyoming and Wind Dancer were also licensed in Mecklenburg 2007. His entire family consists of successful athletes, some of whom were sold overseas. The father, Sancisco, impressed with dream marks in his 70-day test: A 10.0 for rideability, 9.5 for canter and 9.0 for trot, as well as a 9 for jumping.
