Roter Milan RW – A Genetic Rarity with Extraordinary Potential

He descends from the rare and endangered mare family Rodezja S104A from Westerich-Ruppertshofen, a true genetic treasure with a unique bloodline. His pedigree reads like a who’s who of successful sport horses: Grenoble is a striking black tobiano Trakehner stallion born in 2017, approved in Germany and Poland. He descends from elite sport horse bloodlines including Marseille and Brioni and is praised for his harmonious conformation and expressive gaits. Sheridan was a black tobiano Trakehner stallion (by Gluosnis xx) valued for his quality and color but has passed away. Camaro is notable as the first purebred tobiano Trakehner stallion, a finalist in the 5-year-old eventing championships, and an influential sire adding tobiano color and athleticism to the breed. Together, they combine rare tobiano markings with typical Trakehner elegance and performance.

Roter Milan RW descends from the rare and endangered mare family Rodezja S104A from Westerich-Ruppertshofen, a true genetic treasure with a unique bloodline. His pedigree reads like a who’s who of successful sport horses: His grandmother, "Rotkäppchen," was successfully placed in dressage competitions up to level L. The full brother of his grandmother, "Rush-Hour 5," excelled in eventing up to advanced level and in puissance jumping. His mother, "Rotbäckchen," has proven to be an exceptionally fertile broodmare, producing six foals in six consecutive breeding years.

Roter Milan RW combines outstanding sport genes with valuable genetic qualities: as a WFFS-, CA-, and SCID-free horse, he offers excellent conditions for healthy breeding. This genetic safety makes him especially attractive to breeders who seek robust and high-performing offspring. His breeding talent was proven in his first foal crop—all three foals were awarded as German Riding Horses, showing a 100% success rate that highlights his potency as a sire.

Thanks to his homozygous tobiano gene, he reliably passes on the tobiano coat pattern—even when bred to solid-colored mares. This guarantees that every foal will be a striking pinto, making him especially popular among color enthusiasts.

His qualities have been officially recognized: he is approved by the ZSAA as a German Riding Horse stallion, a distinction that certifies his suitability as a breeding stallion according to strict criteria. He thus represents high-quality bloodlines and sustainable horse breeding.

This combination of genetic safety, proven hereditary strength, and recognized breeding performance makes Roter Milan RW a valuable and versatile sire.

As a four-year-old, Roter Milan RW is currently gaining successful experience in eventing and impresses with his remarkable qualities. He shows nerve and composure even in demanding competition situations. His bold and enthusiastic jumping technique, combined with excellent bascule and natural jumping ability, makes him a talented young stallion. His lightness of movement and willing character—he always wants to do everything right—underline his great potential for future challenges.

By breeding with Trakehner or Thoroughbred mares, he produces foals with papers as German Riding Horses, which can later be registered again in the main studbook of the Trakehner Association—an exceptional opportunity for breeders.

With his rare genetics, successful pedigree, and promising qualities, Roter Milan RW is a true asset to breeding and promises high-quality offspring with sporting potential.

What does it mean if a stallion is homozygous tobiano?

If a stallion like Roter Milan RW is homozygous for tobiano, all of his foals will inherit the tobiano pattern. The mare’s color genes influence the exact base coat color, so foals may be bay tobiano, brown tobiano, or other colors depending on the mare.

Being homozygous tobiano means the tobiano pattern is reliably passed to every foal, regardless of the mare’s coat color genetics. This makes the stallion especially valuable for breeders who want guaranteed tobiano-marked offspring.
